Full sun; low water. Mint-family member from South Africa; naturalized in Hawaii. Evergreen shrub, branching to 4-6ft tall and wide. Hairy, square stems carry opposite pairs of narrow, toothed, 2-5in. long leaves. Blooms late spring into fall with showy, dense whorls of tubular, deep orange flowers covered with furlike coat of fine hairs. Striking if well roomed, Good informal screen or accent plant.
