Full sun; little or no water. Mint-family member from South Africa; naturalized in Hawaii. Evergreen shrub, branching to 4-6ft tall and wide. Hairy, square stems carry opposite pairs of narrow, toothed, 2-5in. long leaves. Blooms late spring into fall with showy, dense whorls of tubular, deep orange flowers covered with furlike coat of fine hairs. Striking if well groomed. Good screen or accent plant.
