Full sun; low water. Evergreen shrub, grows to 2-3ft tall and wide, with narrow gray or gray-green leaves. Small flowers are typically blackish maroon, borne on short, fat, 2in. spikes topped by two to four flaglike bracts resembling rabbit ears; bracts come in shades of purple and pink. Blooms spring into summer; often repeats if sheared. Very drought resistant. Fragrant flowers and foliage. Attracts butterflies and bees. Deer resistant.
