Full sun; low water. A broad semi-evergreen tree from Brazil. Fast growing to 15-25ft tall and wide. It has slightly reddish-brown bark with low branches that are somewhat pendulous towards the tips with 1ft long compound leaves of 9-20 pairs of opposite 1-2in. long linear leaflets that are glossy dark green on their upper surface and dull green below. In early to mid-summer appear the terminal clusters of 2-3 in. wide golden yellow flowers, with scattered blooming later. The flowers are followed by 1-2ft long bean-like pods that are square in cross section.
