Part shade-deep shade; moderate to regular water. Evergreen, slow growing, very adaptable shrub 3’ x 5’. Dark green leaves, spotted with yellow; plants may be male or female. Minute dark maroon flowers in earliest spring are followed by clusters of bright red, ¾ in. berries in fall and winter. Both sexes must be planted to ensure fruit crop. Tolerant of wide range of soils. Grows well in low light under trees, competes successfully with tree roots. Tolerates sea air. Good indoors or great accent in shade garden.
