Full sun; regular water. Perennial native to open eucalyptus forests in Western Australia. Thick rootstocks send up clumps to 2-3ft tall and wide of dark green, smooth, sword-like evergreen leaves. Tall stems to 4-6ft tall, bear striking, fuzzy, tubular large flowers in bright red, curved at tips; tip split into six segments. Flowers attract hummingbirds. Bloom from late spring to fall if spent flowering spikes are cut to ground. Good cut flower. refers light sandy soil or heavier soil with good drainage.
